Charlotte’s Earth Month & Arbor Week Events: Celebrate with Us!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Get ready to celebrate Charlotte’s tree canopy during Earth Month and Arbor Week 2025! Landscape Management invites residents and media to join us for a series of green-themed events throughout April. From tree planting to pollinator gardens to the highly anticipated Treetops & Tombstones tour, there’s something for everyone.

Events

Earth Day Tabling Events – Interactive booths to discuss Charlotte’s tree initiatives and connect with the community.

  • April 3, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: UNC Charlotte (UNCC), Student Union Plaza
  • April 12, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Independent Picture House, 4237 Raleigh St

Pollinator Garden Installations – Volunteers will transform school grounds into thriving pollinator habitats. Media is welcome to capture the transformation and speak with organizers and participants.

  • April 14: Walter G. Byers Elementary,9 – 11 a.m.
  • April 15: Oaklawn Language Academy, 9 – 11 a.m.
  • April 16: Eastway Middle School, 9 – 11 a.m.
  • April 17: Phillip O. Berry School of Technology, 9 – 11 a.m.

Arbor Week Events

  • April 14: Mayor Vi Liles presents the Arbor Day proclamation during the City Council meeting
  • April 25: Wells Fargo Building lights up green for Arbor Day

Treetops & Tombstones Arbor Day Celebration – A vibrant and uplifting celebration of Charlotte’s trees and history. Features speeches, ceremonial tree planting, and a guided tour through one of the city’s most beautiful and historic spaces. The event is at capacity for the public, but media is welcome to attend.

  • April 26, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Historic Elmwood Cemetery

Pollinator Garden Outreach and Planting Events – Residents are invited to join volunteers to plant pollinator-friendly vegetation. This event is not open to the public but media is invited to attend.

  • April 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Montgomery Gardens Apartments
  • May 3, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Nia Point Apartments

Charlotte residents can request a free street tree to be planted in the city’s right-of-way in front of their property. The city will handle the planting and maintenance — just fill out the form!
